My Contribution for the Cop's quota

I had to go for a meeting @El Torito restaurant this evening. Let me tell you guys where this place is located, this place is located at the left corner of a street. There is no life in this road at all. There are office buildings on either side and if you drive a bit further then you will hit the bay. This street is totally deserted after 6.00pm other than the traffic to this restaurant. So if you are going to this restaurant from the city (not from one of the offices after this restaurant) then you need to make a U-turn to get to this restaurant. Now the first available turn is marked as ‘No U-Turn’.

I was driving on this street to get to the restaurant and I had a meeting at 6.30pm and I was exactly on time. All I need to do is make a U-turn and I am their and the time is 6.28pm. I saw the sign it said ‘No U-Turn’. I looked at the street no one is their, not a single soul I can see. I decided to go on with my U-turn even though it said no u-turn. When I was making this U-turn I noticed a car coming from a hiding place. I immediately know that this is a cop. Well he didn’t even give me a chance to think, he put on his light. I went inside the restaurants parking lot and parked my car. Well now you know the story. I got my second ticket.

Well What I did was wrong. Made a U-Turn were it was illegal (read as : made a u-turn with out checking in the hiding place for the cop). And also lied to the cop (told him I didn’t see the sign and I was hoping that he might forgive me). I didn’t want to tell him anything since I know what I did was wrong, I just want him to give me my ticket so that I can get inside the restaurant.

The only thing which bothers me is, why was he hiding in a totally deserted road? The only people who get to this road are people who are trying to get to this restaurant and they have to make a U-turn. Why was he hiding there? He couldn’t meet his quota for this month?

Well I have to say that he was really nice and he didn’t believe my story (huh who will believe my story about not seeing the big sign). But my point is, don’t they have better job to do rather than hiding in a remote street?

Mr. Police Man hope you were able to catch up with your quota this month. Well I did my contribution…

Boss,

The cop did his work. Doesnot matter where he was standing. U made a mistake and paid for it. Happy driving baby. You are not in India to pay a bribe and getaway.

oh dude i'm so sorry that going to that TM meeting cost you a ticket. I'm also sorry to admit your blog made me giggle again. It's just so damn funny that you posted a photo of the ticket.

Yea man, I was just pull over by some cops 2 nights ago. I was offering my co-worker a ride home since it was so cold outside here in nyc. On the way to his place, I went through the yellow lights with bounch of cars. I was the last one of the pack. The cop pulled me over, and give me a ticket "Disobey Steady Red Light" I was like, even if it was red, it just turned red. How is it steady red light. This happen like 12:30am and 15 degree outside. Those cops got nothing to do, but waiting for ppl to write tickets.
