Internet Connection – Bangalore

They call Bangalore ‘Silicon Valley of India’. How easy it is to get Internet connection in the ‘Silicon valley of India’??? As soon as I moved here (“The Silicon Valley of India”) I got a connection from a local player and it was the worst connection you can have. I never had the connection. So I started to shop around for a good internet provider.

How easy it is to get Internet connection in the ‘Silicon valley of India’???

Tata Indicom Group
Tata Indicom group has a turnover of 14.25 billon US dollars and they have 222000 employees. I called these people for a broadband connection, now what can you expect from a BIG player? They send a representative to my house for surveying (to make sure that they can give me a connection), and the representative told me that if I pay the installation charges they will start the work and in max 3 weeks I should have my connection. Well why will it take 3 weeks? This is Tata Indicom. I paid the money and it has been more than two months and I haven’t got my connection or my money back. If you are living in a really nice complex, then yes Tata Indicom will be concerned about the connection but if you are normal man, they don’t give a shit. I have made three complains against them so far and no result. If you know some MD or VP’s email-id of this company please let me know, I want to complain at the top level.

Airtel broadband
This is another big player. It’s the same deal with the big player, if you are living in a nice complex with 500 houses then yeah they need you as a customer, but if you are living in complex with 10 houses. They don’t give a shit. They have a billion people to serve and leaving 10 houses here and there is totally ok. The Airtel representative came and took money for installation and never saw him again for a month. After repeated phone calls they gave me my money back. At least they gave me my money, so I am guessing they must be better than Tata Indicom.

Local Players
The connection I had was from a local player and it was the worst connection I ever had. I never had connection and I have called their call center at least 100 times in the 2 and half month I had the connection. The only thing they do is send someone to ask for money. I mean you are asking for money for what? I never had the connection and why should I pay you? I paid a month’s service charge in advance that should cover for the connection I had in the two and half months. And who is going to pay for the 100 phone calls I made and the time I had to spend with these idiots??

Hathway
Finally three days back I called up Hathway. The next day they installed the cable and yesterday I got my connection. What the hell?? I can’t believe either. How come Hathway was able to give a connection in two day when Tata Group couldn’t be reached and Airtel couldn’t get me a connection? I am not going to get too excited about Hathway either. This is India you can’t expect too much here.

Welcome to the ‘Silicon Valley of India’ where you got to go thru so much to get an freakin internet connection.

Bangalore Weekend Getaway – Mysore

Last weekend two of my cousins came to visit me, at the last moment we decided to get out of Bangalore. We didn’t want to drive too far and we did want to do something fun. Since we couldn’t come up with any fun plan, we decided to go to Mysore and on the way back we thought we will stay in some resort and have some fun.

Mysore is 130 Km from Bangalore, we left Bangalore really early to beat the traffic (7.00am). It took us around 3 hours to reach Mysore.

In Mysore we visited the St. Philomena’s Church. This Cathedral church was built in the 1950’s and this is one of the largest churches in India.

We also visited the Mysore Palace. This palace was very impressive. You can hire a guide for the palace and without the guide I don’t think I would have gotten impressed. If you are visiting the Mysore Palace make sure you get a guide for the palace.

After the Mysore Palace we headed straight to the resort which was located 12 km from Mysore. We checked into the resort and we headed straight to the swimming pool. We spend almost 2.30 hours in the swimming pool playing game. Well we invented our own game which is a combination of water polo and American football. It was lot of fun. But we all got really tired after that. The rest of the evening we played some more games and hit the bed early.

The Gang

The next day we got up really late and had our breakfast and checkout of the resort and headed back to Bangalore. On the way to Bangalore we saw a go-kart place and decided to do some racing. It was fun, but not that much fun for me. That might be because I am not a good race driver I guess.

It was a weekend filled with lots of activity and fun. More picture
