Internet Connection – Bangalore
They call Bangalore ‘Silicon Valley of India’. How easy it is to get Internet connection in the ‘Silicon valley of India’??? As soon as I moved here (“The Silicon Valley of India”) I got a connection from a local player and it was the worst connection you can have. I never had the connection. So I started to shop around for a good internet provider.
How easy it is to get Internet connection in the ‘Silicon valley of India’???
Tata Indicom Group
Tata Indicom group has a turnover of 14.25 billon US dollars and they have 222000 employees. I called these people for a broadband connection, now what can you expect from a BIG player? They send a representative to my house for surveying (to make sure that they can give me a connection), and the representative told me that if I pay the installation charges they will start the work and in max 3 weeks I should have my connection. Well why will it take 3 weeks? This is Tata Indicom. I paid the money and it has been more than two months and I haven’t got my connection or my money back. If you are living in a really nice complex, then yes Tata Indicom will be concerned about the connection but if you are normal man, they don’t give a shit. I have made three complains against them so far and no result. If you know some MD or VP’s email-id of this company please let me know, I want to complain at the top level.
Airtel broadband
This is another big player. It’s the same deal with the big player, if you are living in a nice complex with 500 houses then yeah they need you as a customer, but if you are living in complex with 10 houses. They don’t give a shit. They have a billion people to serve and leaving 10 houses here and there is totally ok. The Airtel representative came and took money for installation and never saw him again for a month. After repeated phone calls they gave me my money back. At least they gave me my money, so I am guessing they must be better than Tata Indicom.
Local Players
The connection I had was from a local player and it was the worst connection I ever had. I never had connection and I have called their call center at least 100 times in the 2 and half month I had the connection. The only thing they do is send someone to ask for money. I mean you are asking for money for what? I never had the connection and why should I pay you? I paid a month’s service charge in advance that should cover for the connection I had in the two and half months. And who is going to pay for the 100 phone calls I made and the time I had to spend with these idiots??
Hathway
Finally three days back I called up Hathway. The next day they installed the cable and yesterday I got my connection. What the hell?? I can’t believe either. How come Hathway was able to give a connection in two day when Tata Group couldn’t be reached and Airtel couldn’t get me a connection? I am not going to get too excited about Hathway either. This is India you can’t expect too much here.
Welcome to the ‘Silicon Valley of India’ where you got to go thru so much to get an freakin internet connection.

BSNL?

I registered online with BSNL almost two months back and haven’t heard back from them. The only way to catch BSNL is to go to their office; I am not sure how fast they work to get the connection either.

that was a funny post. I like how you're complaining a lot to companies. I love when people do that!! Consumer rights man.

I'm in Bangalore too, and a took a flat that guaranteed "broad band" internet. It's Hathway, which as I understand is ISD delivered via cable. It works consistently, which judging from the above is about the best I can expect here, but it seems slower than dial-up in the States.

Even I have taken the broadband connection in Bangalore and everyday when I try to browse there would be some problem and I have to call the customer care people. The troubleshooting methods they suggest is of no use. Then I have to keep calling them and atlast they fix it after a week. So on an average I am able to browse 4 times in a month. Even after so many compaints nothing happened. All I was able to get about the management people profile is this
http://www.vsnl.in/aboutvsnl/boarddirect.php
I am planning to get broadband connection with Hathway. If anybody has used it please give your feedback. I am sure it is better than Tataindicom.
Posted by: priya at April 23, 2006 08:59 PM
I've had an experience worse with Tata. They took my money, did not install the connection for over a month. When I finally made complaints via corporate channels they came and installed their equipment, which promptly stopped working after two days. Its been almost a year now and the same has not worked, but these people insist on sending me bills for each month!!!
Airtel is the same as decribed on this page.
I also tried hathway, which worked fine initially, but now for the last 3 weeks I have been calling every single day for renewal of the connection and each time I am told the sales team/ accounts team/ technical team will call back in 15 minutes. No luck yet. Like Tata, they don't even want to come and pick up their modem.

Dear Sir,
Your helpline for (Tata Indicom) for pre-paid is not upto the mark, they only ignore to talk to the customers, and try to finish their call as soon as possible.
They are only passing their time. Pl. improve this situation to get more business, otherwise,
stop this.

Hello
This is my second email . I see that none of the persons in your organisation had the courage to reply to my previuos email, which proves how beautifully you people are running a fraud organisation in the name of SKYVIEW
Tonight as usual i am disconnected and your customer care people have been equally un co-operative.
I am surrendering my connection from hence forth and i promise you people to not sit idle bieng cheated like this.

Hello
I am a customer 1021 of the cyber plan scheme. This connection is taken for office purpose and the key expectation is round the hrs service specially in night. I have taken this connection for about 3 yrs now
Now since 5th july 2006 we have been regulary logging complains and our internet is going down every night at around 9:30 & comes back again in the morning. When we phone your people at night we get the regular excuse that thier are no one at night to work on this.
Today on the 10th july our service was completely flucatuating through out the day. Besides spending time & money on numerous phone calls to your customer care number there was no rectification action taken from your side. I had personally visited your premises and was assured of service restoration on restarting the modem ( around 6:45 pm ). On coming back to office and restarting the modem for about 20 times , nothing changed and i was still offline. I tried to talk to customer care executives and holding on the phone lines for about 12 minutes from my mobile i was still getting the recorded music in loops.
I have all the rights to information as to what is going wrong and when it will be corrected. But i see your attitude seems to be like mafia guys who dont care for any body at all.
If i am not replied with a written committment within 24hr as to when this problem will be resolved , i will be happy to surrender my connection and initiate necessary damage and expenses claim on your organisation.
I pay around Rs100 per day and your organisation cannot cheat me like this
Hope if you people are really serious to continue this venture, you would take up necessary corrective actions and improve your service.
Running away with excuses and ignoring customers using your pre-recorded messages wont keep you very long in business

all remarks about Hathway is wrong, i needed a connection and called up hathway, they give me the Enquiry Number number telling that there executive will get back to me in 24 hours, and hence no one called me up, after 2 days i called up and enquired, then, the person from other sideis asking me, did any one call up sir to you, if any one would have called me then "why should i have called you Boss" then he said he will get back to me, Then next day, the same story, the next day the same story, weekend arrives i forgot to call, some how on tuesday i remember that i need a connection, i call up to fine the same reply, then after a couple of days finally on Friday they said that they cant give me the connection becuse of my Area, just to know this i took me 2 weeks, why they dont have a chart, where they can give me a connection or not,
Then i tried Airtel they said they will give the feeedback in 48 hrs, infact they were quite honest enough to tell me that i cant get the connection becuse of my Area,

how can get internet connecyion?
Posted by: pradeepbk at November 7, 2006 06:19 AM
i am living in thayagaraja nagar(t.r.nagar). i tried with airtel, hathway, reliance, you telecom, sify, tata indicom. sab bekar hai. now i have a feeling t.r nagar is a slum area. t.r nagar is sorrounded by basavanagudi, jayanagar, banashankari....... i think you telecom and sify are better of above, especially if you are living in un noticible area like mine.hey wait!! that was 2 months back. now bescom has introduced a new rule that says an internet cable between any two points(say from provider to your house) cannot be more than 120 meters in which case you should get a permission for 500 series underground cabling, which cannot be provided in t.r nagar and the likes as their is no such things called underground cabling in these areas.
so it's imposible to get a connection. so i advice all you gies living in slum areas don't waste money on the phone calls. believe me t.r nagar is just 5 kms from the center of the city.
and bangalore is a silicon city. i think i can give a new name for bangalore 'the f---ing city'
but there is some good news, one year from now this f--ing city is going "wi-fi". i hope i will get a connection atleast then. and i am certainly sure there will be another company say mescom or loscom which will bring in more restrictions and succed in not giving me a connection.

i called up sify broand band, they sent one representative to check whether they can give connection or not, he came and said it is possible, i filled the registration form and gave him 300 rs in advance as token money, he didnt turn up after that then i called them again they said they are coming and came after ten days, although they promised me to give connection in three days, then after coming and checking again they said they will come next day, they dint come again we waited for them whole day, and again when we gave them a call they said its not possible to give u connection, i said ok leave it just give me back my money, till date we are calling them and they just say, you take back the money from the same person, and even they are not giving us the no. of that fellow.
this is really disgusting dont go for sify they have looted us.

My connection has expired on Jan 13th. I had taken a 6 months plan and have been following up for more than a week now with customer care, accounts dept, renewal dept. I have also sent the chq however ther is no action taken from hathway. The kind of customer service that is provided is really bad. None of them give either the complint call id number nor take any action. I would prefer to stop the chq since no action has been taken.

Hi folks,
I have been an Hathway user for more than 4.5 years now. I have moved house once and am still very happy with their prompt service and steady connection apart from a few hitches here and there.
I am a very demanding customer and cannot tolerate cos. who disregard their customer but I am very satisfied with Hathway. It works fine and I just need to call them if my line goes down which is a rare instance unless they have a major fault. Billing department is also understanding and inspite of outstandings when I am travelling they do not disconnect or charge any interest.
Good company. Go for it.
Cheers,
Dev

Hi,
This message is to all the aspirants who wanted a broadband connection in Bangalore....Pls do not take Reliance Wi-Max(The mother fucking internet connection) in Bangalore...The speed is so good that i had to call the customer atleast not less than 150 times in a month...It works for 1 hr in a day....Excellent...Rs.750 per month and speed 150kbps..I asked for 150kbps unlimited they gave me 2 Mbps limited and charged Rs.4000 at the end of the month...Ass holes...Pls dont trust Reliance...Airtel is good...BSNL ok...
