Running Speed

Last weekend Runners For Life had a 33K run. My goal was to run 15k and retire (with the kind of shape I am in that’s a big goal). Unfortunately got up very late and I had only time to brush my teeth. I didn’t have any time to eat anything, just drank a gatorade and started the run. By the time I reached 9k I was so hungry and I had to stop my run at 13.2k. I think I could have run another lap, but didn’t want to take the risk of running with such an empty stomach. The thing that bothers me was the timing; it took me 1.33mins to run 13.2 k. With this speed looks like I can only finish a marathon in 6.00hours. Now I need to try and improve my speed, I am going to try “Fartlek training”. Lets see if this works.

Marathon Training Schedule

Marathon Training Schedule

I am going to miss the Delhi Marathon, Mumbai Marathon because I didn’t do enough training. Now I don’t want to miss the Chennai Marathon which is happening in Feb, so last week I sat and prepared a training schedule for myself. Well I did my first run last week and fell sick after that, I will wait for another day or two to get better and will start continuing my training. Not sure if I am going to follow it fully, but defenetly spend enough time to put this together. I got the schedule from Hal Higdon and modified it a bit.

Ten Sport – Bangalore Marathon Coverage

Ten Sports telecasted their Bangalore marathon coverage for 45mins. One of the guy (I am sure every news paper had his picture, this was the guy in the sanyasi dress) in my running club (Runners For Life) recorded the coverage. For some reason I thought I might be there somewhere in the telecast, unfortunately I was not there. But it was a good show most of the telecast was about the organizing of the marathon. And it was inspiring to see Ramu finish the marathon.

If you ran the race and want to take a look at the telecast let me know. If you didn’t run the race and still want to look at it, let me know.
