Need a break!!!!

It was just crazy busy at work. I didn’t do anything for a long time. No regular running practice for the marathon (means no Chennai marathon), no blogging for a long time, no going out, no nothing….

Now it is little bit free at work and I am going to run away for the weekend. Planning to go camping, really really need a break.

Need Motivation

I have been really lazy these days. I have put on 10 pounds in the last three months and I am not exercising regularly. The problem is I don’t have the motivation to go to the gym at all. I thought if I sign up and pay for the gym I might get the motivation, but it has been almost 3 weeks since I visited the gym.

At least when I was in the Bay Area I was playing lot of sports which helped me to stay in shape, but I don’t play any sport either now.

I am in serious need of some motivation…

I forgot to take my camera with me to some of the send off things and some places they didn’t allow the cameras ;). Here are some of the send off pictures.

I am getting better in marketing

I was trying to sell lot of my things on craigslist and purposely I hosted the images on my website so that I can monitor how many people are looking at the ad. Well it was almost 4-5 days and everyone is looking at the ads but I never got a reply from anyone.

Is no one interested in an SLR camera? Or a good Guitar?
Well it can’t be.

So I came up with a plan today morning, to reduce the price. Well I reduced the guitar price into half so I can imagine why people were jumping on that. But I just reduced my camera price from 75$ to an attractive price. Well guess what the attractive price was? 70 minus 1 yeah 69$. Here is where the marketing comes, if I put 70 I don’t think people would have responded so I made it attractive 69$ and the camera was gone in 2 hours.

Can’t believe we still fall for that 9?

Well if you are the one who brought the camera from me, trust me you got the best deal. I myself was thinking of buying it since the price was so attractive.

Back To Base

I have been thinking for a long time to go back to India for a longer period rather than just going for a 3 week vacation. Well I guess I am going to do it this time.

There were lot of changes at work, which kind of pushed me to look around for another job. I started looking and all of a sudden this thought about going back to India for sometime came to my mind. Well I thought about it a lot and it looks like if I don’t do it now, I don’t think I will ever do it.

So here I am packing my bags to the base. The plan as of now is to stay in India for min 6 months to a max of 2 years.

Now that being said, I need some help to sell all my stuff. If you know anyone who might be interested in the below things, please let them know. (when I come back I will get an elephant for the referral ;) )

My Contribution for the Cop's quota

I had to go for a meeting @El Torito restaurant this evening. Let me tell you guys where this place is located, this place is located at the left corner of a street. There is no life in this road at all. There are office buildings on either side and if you drive a bit further then you will hit the bay. This street is totally deserted after 6.00pm other than the traffic to this restaurant. So if you are going to this restaurant from the city (not from one of the offices after this restaurant) then you need to make a U-turn to get to this restaurant. Now the first available turn is marked as ‘No U-Turn’.

I was driving on this street to get to the restaurant and I had a meeting at 6.30pm and I was exactly on time. All I need to do is make a U-turn and I am their and the time is 6.28pm. I saw the sign it said ‘No U-Turn’. I looked at the street no one is their, not a single soul I can see. I decided to go on with my U-turn even though it said no u-turn. When I was making this U-turn I noticed a car coming from a hiding place. I immediately know that this is a cop. Well he didn’t even give me a chance to think, he put on his light. I went inside the restaurants parking lot and parked my car. Well now you know the story. I got my second ticket.

Well What I did was wrong. Made a U-Turn were it was illegal (read as : made a u-turn with out checking in the hiding place for the cop). And also lied to the cop (told him I didn’t see the sign and I was hoping that he might forgive me). I didn’t want to tell him anything since I know what I did was wrong, I just want him to give me my ticket so that I can get inside the restaurant.

The only thing which bothers me is, why was he hiding in a totally deserted road? The only people who get to this road are people who are trying to get to this restaurant and they have to make a U-turn. Why was he hiding there? He couldn’t meet his quota for this month?

Well I have to say that he was really nice and he didn’t believe my story (huh who will believe my story about not seeing the big sign). But my point is, don’t they have better job to do rather than hiding in a remote street?

Mr. Police Man hope you were able to catch up with your quota this month. Well I did my contribution…

My Comfortable Shoe

Last week I was in a meeting and this guys who was sitting opposite to me was looking at my feet for some reason, I was getting little bit uncomfortable about this. I noticed it several times that he was still looking at my feet. Now I totally lost my patient and I looked at my feet. Then I noticed that my shoe is almost one fourth dead. When I walk people can’t notice anything but if I am sitting with my feet a little bit bend then it opens it mouth.

My dying comfortable shoe

Three or four months back I noticed that my shoe is loosing its life. But I totally forgot about it. Let me tell you this was the best comfortable shoe I ever had.

Now I really don’t know what this person thought about me. May be he was thinking man looks like Indians are really poor or man these Indians are really stingy? I don’t know.

Don’t we all have this comfy stuff? Like T-shirt or a towel which is really comfortable and then when it is dying, still we don’t want to throw that thing away. Or is it just me?

“Oh well this t-shirt only has a small hole close to the armpit I can still wear it no one will notice that. And best of all it is COMFORTABLE.”

Well my shoe is kind of like that. It still has three fourth of its life left. And I am planning to use it to the full extend. :)

Buying VS Renting

This weekend was a busy weekend. One of my friend visited me from New Jersey and we were going around and meeting lot of our common friends. It was fun to see all these guys who I lost touch with. Every one of them has bought a house. Now my thought about buying a house is back. Few months back I started looking into it and decided that it is too expensive to get a house at this point, but after talking to my friends looks like may be I can afford a condo or a townhouse somewhere. Well I am starting to think about it now. It totally makes sense to buy a house than renting it, but why am I not doing it?? I guess it the commitment (financial) problem and the fear that I will be tied down financially for sometime.

Blog and Guestbook Spammers

What’s up with the spammers?? They spam us with all the junk mail in the world and if you have a guestbook in your website they spam that too!!! If you have a blog then they spam the blog comments too!! What the hell is wrong with these people? Do they really think that someone is going to visit their site or someone is going to buy their product by spamming? For the last two months my guestbook is being spammed and I thought I will just delete it whenever I get spammed but this is going out of hand right now and it is pissing me off. Finally today I spend some time with my guestbook to make sure that those spammers won’t be able to post anything in my guestbook. I guess I need to do the same for my blog also. If I can do something to piss them off I will be glad to do it…

Un-Eventful Weekend

The weekend was pretty un-eventful. It was really cold outside so didn’t really wanted to go outside. I really really wanted to take my bike out and go somewhere but don’t think I can deal with this cold weather.

I was browsing the web and found this group of bloggers in India doing some really good work for the Tsunami relief (Anita, Suman, Kiruba) I am really glad to see the overwhelming response from the people for the relief effort. Even at my work place I received lots of email about the different organization who were doing something for the relief. Hope the right people get the aid on time.

Getting Started With My Blog

I read lot of my friend's blog for a long time, and thought about doing my own blog. Unfortunately never did anything about this till today. Finally got the movable blog Movable Type up and running. This movable type is pretty cool instead of having your blog on some one else site you can have your own blog. And the best part is if you have your own website you can download this and for 1 author and 3 weblogs (not sure what this means) it is free. The only draw back is you doon't get support for this version, so if you hit a bug you got to live with it.
